Clara graduated with honors from West Virginia University School of Medicine.  She is continuing her education as a Sport Management Graduate student at WVU.


With over 6 years experience as an aquatics fitness instructor and therapist, Clara lead group fitness classes and worked one-on-one in aquatic rehab. Injury prevention is a priority with her clients.  


Beginning as a student volunteer coach at an indoor track club and cross country and track camps, Clara has been in the field of coaching since 2005, and private coaching since 2015. 


​​A desire to share her experiences and share running, fitness, and health with the community has led Clara to be involved in many speaking engagements, childrens programs, and running and health seminars.


Clara fell in love with running as a young child in the hills of West Virginia.  It became a competitive outlet  in middle school track. She gradually improved from a mid-pack middle schooler to a world class marathoner.  With the guidance of many positive influences, including her current coach, Sean Cleary, she's achieved 4 All-Americans at WVU, 2 Pittsburgh Marathon wins, multiple World Marathon Major top 10 placings, 7th at the 2012 US Olympic Marathon Trials, and continues to train for the chance to represent the US in competition as part of the Saucony Racing Team.  Her company sponsors and supporters are Saucony, Elliptigo, and Healthworks Rehab & Fitness.​​
